How do you get the IPSW file? All I see on the dev. site is DMG files. It would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

Go here: http://iphoneism.com/2011/08/06/ios-5-beta-5-ipsw-download-links-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch/ and scroll down a little bit until you see the links like this:

A DMG file is merely a disk image.

There are a number of programs that can either mount the DMG or extract files from it.

7-Zip is a free example.

Alternatively you could extract the .ipsw on a Mac and then copy it to a Windows machine.

Apple has often released the updates as a .zip (but not published the links), so you could also possibly download it that way.

Of course, many people are resorting to third party links where the .ipsw has been extracted from the .DMG already.
