windows xpsp1 updated to sp2, do i really need to slipstreamed the cd

I installed windows XP SP1 on my MBP and noticed that i cant install the driver. Just found out that i need at least SP2. I just downloaded the SP2 updater from microsoft. I planned to put the installed through OSX because the windows can't access network. And install the Sp2 in the windows. Will it work? Or do i need to slipstreamed and make XP SP2 bootable CD?
