"WindowSer..." process in the iStat. what is it?

when i look at the istat widget, there is a process labeled as "windowser..." that i dont know...

when i just open it, it is at a high 16% but drops and disappears pretty quickly...just wondering what it is, and why it uses so much cpu sometimes.

It's "WindowServer", it's the graphical user interface (GUI) overlay over Unix, so that you can see the widget at all.
