WindowServer causing 6000 rpm?

Hi guys. My MacBook Pro is still running 4000-6000 rpm with only mozilla firefox open. I checked the processes and found that WindowServer takes up 28.8% cpu, is this the cause of the high fan rpm? I already told apple care and im going to send it in, if I don't get it fixed. Do you guys know if that could be the problem? And should I try to reinstall leopard? Wipe the harddrive and make a complete reinstallation?
