When I make phone calls using my headset, I get a sound of wind blowing.

It doesn't do it the whole time. It will happen randomly (but often) and then randomly stop.

I did a restore on my phone twice already (because of another problem) and I have tried multiple pairs of headphones.

I kind of have a feeling if I go to the store to get them to check it out, i'm going to get sent away disappointed, because it's not something that always happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but i'm not quite sure if it's anything that will be fixable via online help :(

This happens on my office phone with the Bluetooth headset if I have the mic too close to my mouth. The noise canceling mic and the receiver mic will get into a kind of loop that sounds like wind when my mouth is too close and both mics pick up my voice. It's like it's trying to cancel itself out.

Try moving it away a little farther and see what happens.

I have never had this problem until I got the iPhone 5.

I try everything.. moving it away from my mouth.. twisting it around.. I take it out and put it back in (this sounds dirty).

Nothing works.. :(

Is it the same headset you had with your 4 or 4S?

Well, i've since purchased like 5 new headsets, haha, but yeah.. it's an old style headset as well as the new ear pods, which is what makes me think it's a hardware problem.

So the same wind noise occurs on the other headsets as well?

Well ma'am, if it were me, I'd bring the phone in and a couple of the headsets with it, and try to replicate the problem at the store so they can see it or rather hear it and hope they give you a new one in its place. :)

That's what I figured i'd have to do.

I sincerely dislike dealing with those turds, though. One day i'm going to remind them that they're just retail employees.

Just to let you know since you tried to help me with the problem..

I ended up going to the Apple store today and was helped by an absolutely delightful young man.

I told him about this problem as well as two other problems I had been having with my phone and he said he was going to replace my headphone jack, then came back and said he will just replace the whole phone.

So I walked out with a shiny new iPhone.

The only downside is that he advised against restoring from my backup, since some of the problems could be a software bug and I could transfer it to this new phone via the backup.

BUT

Then I was having the App store problem I was having before that you helped me with. I tried doing what you told me to do with the date and it didn't work. So I ended up doing a more elaborate version of that and now it's working.

Jeeeesh

That was good he gave you a new phone. :)

So are/were you having a problem with the App Store again with the new phone?

Yes I was having the problem again, but I closed all my apps, went to settings, changed the date ahead a year, closed out of settings, opened the app store, got the error, closed out of the app store, opened settings, set it back, closed out of settings then opened the app store back up.

I had to keep closing settings. Couldn't leave it running or it wouldn't work.

That is just so weird.
