Hello.. Apologies if this should be in a different part of the forum.. I hope someone can give me a bit of help with this...
There are a couple of windows-only programs I wanted to try out and as I've used Wine on a Linux machine before I decided to download Winebottler from here: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
...Since I didn't install X11 originally and my SL install DVD is currently in another country (long stupid story) I downloaded and installed Xquartz from here: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki
Anyway, after restarting I noticed that the .exe files I'd downloaded now had the Winebottler icon... all good so far... I double clicked on a .exe and Wine seemed to open... but Xquartz did not...
The window asking me if I want to "Run directly..." opened up ok, but after I click OK nothing happens... No Xquartz, no error message, nothing.
Other apps I've used which require Xquartz/X11 automatically open it when they run, but Winebottler doesn't seem to do this... I tried opening Xquartz manually first, then running a Windows app via Wine, but same thing: Winebottler seems to be completely ignoring Xquartz.
I've tried: Reinstalling Xquartz, reinstalling Winebottler, rebooting several times...
Any ideas, folks? ...I'm hoping this is one of those really stupid and obvious things that I've overlooked!
