I was 1 winner for 11 tries (the winner was a 7-11 Cup). I was beginning to wonder what the deal was. On the cups I was running with the odds but had not won after 8 bottle purchases.

Then I think my wife figured out a bit about WHY I had no winning bottles. Someone probably did what she figured out at the places that I bought my bottles.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS ON HOW TO WIN EVERY TIME -- IT IS SO EASY!

This is the pattern for a LOSER:

PLEASE
PLAY
AGAIN

This is the pattern for a WINNER:

XXXXX
XXXXX
ONE FREE
SONG

Notice the Following:

There are 3 lines to a LOSER, and FOUR for a WINNER

Only the WINNER has a bottom line with FOUR LETTERS

The LONG LINE (ONE FREE) sticks out to the side more than any line on a losing cap.

Once you know what to look for when tilting them, you can pick a WINNER EVERY TIME.

In fact, my wife swears that her eyesight is good enough that she could ACTUALLY READ the ONE FREE SONG part of the WINNING CAPS. So how's that for easy. Just need to find a WELL LIT, but RELATIVELY UNOCCUPIED soda isle at a store with a good price and YOU'RE SET!

MacRumors has been a favorite spot of mine for a long time. Glad I could contribute. (I'm a DIE HARD Coke drinker so if I MUST drink Pepsi to promote Apple then at least I know I'll get something out of it.)

If you think this note is helpful to you, and you feel up to a contribution, I'd be happy to redeam any codes you send to itunescaps@scottfisher.net

;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

this has been discussed on a lot of the threads on pepsi caps. this is how im 5 for 5.

Redeeming More Caps = More $$$ for Apple

Redeeming More Caps = More $$$ for Apple

Since Apple is paid only for those songs that are REDEEMED by winners, the more "Apple Folk" that get the winning caps AND REDEEM THEM, the more $$$ Apple receives from this. Also, the better the Apple iTunes Music Store soes, the better their marketshare numbers, etc.

My wife and I have 25 so far (she put a CASE of winning bottles together from BJ's for just $14.99)!

Let me know how this helps!

my lovely wife was 4/4 yesterday. how wonderful is she? we hadn't checked the fourth one until i read this thread. it was sitting in the fridge, where i fairly ran after reading these posts. my discovery -- i couldn't read at all through the top of the cap, but if you turn it upside down, though you can't read it, you can tell if it says more than just "please play again". one look through the bottom and i knew i had another winner, even if i couldn't read it. try it.

Tilt the bottle . . .

Yes, you are right. You have to tilt the bottle upside down -- you can't read it THROUGH the bottle top.

damn, nice going. are you guessing that apple only gets paid for the redeemed caps or have they said that somewhere, i would be curious to know.

Yes, I HAVE READ that and I remember that it was a trusted source (I believe it was MacRumors or MacCentral).

Pepsi doesn't pay $100,000,000. They only pay for the amount of redemption. Incidentally, the article also said that they are paying FULL PRICE for the redeemed songs. Although Apple gets great advertising out of it, they were the ONLY ONES that had the infrastructure to pull this off for Pepsi in light of the CokeMusic promo.

So, sounds like a WIN-WIN -- but it never hurts for *US* to help Apple win out even more! ;)

makes sense that it does work like that, just never thought of it. i did know that they were paying full price. i belive to it is a win win situation. does anyone even know of cokes promo, i havent seen anything.

hmmm

No offense to anyone playing it (i have won a few my self) but still. why pay $1.09 (average bottle price) for a song that normally costs 99 cents. Its absolutely dumb. Yes you get a drink out of the deal but it is still very dumb how many peoople just play to get the songs, they act like they are actualy saving money, but in reality they are loosing it. If people already drink pepsi, go for it, if you are a diehard coke fan or other fan then why buy pepsis just for this?

Why are we here?

I approach it like this.

In my opinion, there are very few business revolutionaries left in the world. There are even FEWER that consistently push the envelope in technology when the safe bet is to stop and recoup your investment before moving on (hmm, can we say, Scully -- Amelio -- et al.?)

In this age of missing passion in America's businesses AND America's workers, I do everything (within my own reasons) to support the company that drives the inovation that protects us from the stagnant technologies such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.

Where would THE REST of the computing/music/animated movie world be if Steve had not returned to the top. I completely disagree with his politics but from a business standpoint, he has my dollar.

(Besides, as mentioned above, now that we've figured out the system, we made a $15 purchase which included TWENTY-FOUR iTunes downloads AND 24 bottles of Pepsi. Hmmm, I could pour out the Pepsi and still be $9 ahead on my music purchases.)

i know what your saying, but i doubt anyone is buy them purely to get songs.

they might not normally buy pepsi and now they'll get some and enjoy that and maybe get a free song as well, its just something fun to do. thats why its helping everyone consumer making them happy, pepsi for people not usually buying soda, and apple of course

i just cheated the system a bit

I just entered one of my codes in itunes and it said that it was correct, and credited me for 99 cents, I entered the wrong code actualy, it wus 1 number off from the code on my cap...but o well.....someone is gonna be pi**ed

Re: 99 CENTS?

You know what I mean.

Yeah, it makes sense only if you were going to buy a soda anyway, so because of this promotion you choose pepsi over coke (or soemthing else). But just to get free songs it doesn't matter. And even with the free songs it's not as good a deal as buying a two litre or 6/12 pack on sale.

Well, let's do the math. I'm a DIE HARD Coke drinker, however . . .

JUST 24 songs from the iTunes Music Store = $23.76

24 bottles of Soda = about $15-$18

24 WINNING bottles of Pepsi = same $15-$18 (with 24 FREE SONGS INCLUDED!)

Supporting Apple while getting THE MOST out of a Pepsi promotion = PRICELESS!

pheh-- I haven't even found one of these bottles to check. Where the heck are you people finding them??? I drink a soda every day, and I have yet to see a diet pepsi that says anything about Apple on it. Oh, well, I guess I'll do without.

No bottles here!!!!

I thought Chicago was a big, modern place!

Where's OUR BOTTLES???

I haven't found ANYBODY offering the iTunes promotional bottles.

wut r u talking about, soda is 1.09 a bottle, I have been to about 13 different states and they are all that price.

Here in Waukesha (suburb of Milwaukee) Wal-Mart is selling Pepsi for $.98/bottle. So claims that it costs $1.09 everywhere just aren't true. I also saw it 2 for $3 in Rockford. Sort of disappointed I didn't buy a bunch there and check for winners

BJ's Wholesale

Well, I didn't plan on picking the MOST EXPENSIVE place. I have a membership to BJ's Wholesale (like Sam's Club or Costco) and their price was twenty four 20 ounce Pepsi Bottles for $14.99 plus tax.

Combined with the fact that they were just in racks -- not six packs -- made them very easy to check for winners and then pick the 24 that we wanted.

It only takes about 5-10 seconds per bottle to get the right angle to see the code pattern for the Winners.

yes bj's rules, my mom once got a huge thing of pretzels (4 bags with about 150 pretzels in each) for like 5 bux

Sounds kinda.. 'not right' to me... I mean, where's the fun in cheating?

It's not stealing.. but it ain't winning either.

You know, i think this was set up this way for people to figure it out.

Just a hunch, but ive got a feeling this isn't the last we'll see from an apple/pepsi tie-in....so i think the bottles were deliberately set up in a way that people COULD see a winner.

Ya know? Make it VERY successful... I think they'll be some sort of "summer sounds" extension of this program too. This isn;t the only iTunes promotion... and they wanna be able to say at the next Keynote "x million songs have been redeemed"

They must know mac users are gonna latch onto this stuff and it'll spread like wildfire.

I'm 11 for 11 btw. ;)

Makes you wonder if they'll redo the caps or if its too late and they've already printed all of them....

I'm going to go out to lunch today and see if I can find one :D
