Winterboard on JB 3G not working

I can't get much of anything to work through Winterboard. Also things like Fontswap don't work as well. I have been searching for help but can't seem to find much through google or in here.
I am getting rid of my 3G running 4.0.2 to a friend and I was trying to set it up for him before he takes over it.
Can anyone shed some light. Is there any way to get Winterboard working? Is it not possible on firmware 4.0.2?
Any suggestions would he appreciated. Thx guys!

Last I heard 4.02 couldn't be jailbroken, maybe that's your problem? Sounds like you're new to jailbreaking...? This site and others have warned not to update to 4.02.... because it will break an already jailbroken phone. And a fresh/ clean install can't be jailbroken.

3G not S or 4.
Apparently this is happening to some and not everyone. Winterboard sucking right now and wow is the device slowwwww!!
