Ok.. So I had no idea that my 3G phone came with a black cloth. I guess I never looked hard enough. I was opening it up today and noticed it. I cleaned off my iPhone 4 screen and now its really clean (of course once i touch it, it will change)..

So is it ok to wipe the screen with the cloths? I'm sure it is.. but afterwards, I started focusing on the feel of the screen.

I was thinking that when I first opened the phone.. the screen was really smooth and my fingers would slide without resistance.. now I have myself thinking that after wiping it off.. its stickier and gives resistance.

I probably need to just rest. haha.

Go sleep and get up in the morning and realize what silly post you just made :p

haha just kidding... Nothing wrong with cleaning your screen, but if you are paranoid just buy a screen protector and wipe away all you want.

If you never cleaned your screen, your iPhone would be the most gross thing since Windows...

I CONSTANTLY wipe down my screen with a cloth much like the one you described and I assure you that the phone is fine. I wipe down my iPhone 4 and iPad after every time I touch it.

Haha.. I actually prefer Windows over Mac OS anyday of the week.. but I won't get into that. lol

Yeah.. I'm just really weird about things like that.. I start focusing in so much that I lose sight of whats really there.

The black cloths that come with Macbook Pros and iPhones are awesome -- I'm actually carrying around the one that came w/my laptop to clean the iPhone 4 since it didn't come with one.

Also the cloths that come w/the regular iKlear pack are pretty nice too.

I use a micro fiber cloth. Recently I purchased a 3 pack of reading glasses at Costco. It came with 3 very thin microfiber cloth cases for the glasses/cleaning. They work great on the ip4.

Go to Frys and buy a package of lint-free microfiber cloths. They usually sell them in packs of 5 or 10 for next to nothing. MUCH better than that little thing that Apple gives you (or gave you before...since they don't include it anymore.)

So the cloths don't mess with that coating that is on the screen? Can that be confirmed? haha

I'd hate to ask Apple or Steve Jobs this question..

Dear Steve,
I thought this coating prevented fingerprints, etc??

=---- REPLY

We will be releasing an update next week to fix this issue. This is just a software issue

You can get really good and cheap microfiber cloths from camera stores. I use the same one on my iPhone that I use on my camera lens, works great.

did you really make a post about this? c-o-m-m-o-n s-e-n-s-e. why else would they give you a cloth with the phone? to dust your room with?

Is it better to run my iPhone through the dishwasher or clothes washer? I am guessing clothes washer since my dishwashing detergent is a powder and can scratch the screen

It is definately NOT okay to use the cloth that came with your 3G to wipe your iPhone 4. Toss that cloth out immediately and get yourself some sand paper from the hardware store.

Just kidding. Any microfiber cloth is fine--as is the sleave on your shirt or a slightly damp bath towel. Just make sure there isn't any grit on what you use to wipe it with.
