I have MBA M1 8GB; and I noticed something a bit worrying; the wired memory in activity monitor is getting bigger with each day; when I boot it's below 1GB; then gets pretty fast to around 1,2GB; then 1,5 GB; and now it's hovering between 1,8 and 2Gb. The mac has been on for about 5 days, and it inflates gradually. Once it reaches a certain level it never gets back down; wether or not any application is running; even if I log out. Is there a way to know what's using this memory? I know wired memory is supposed to be kernel task and video memory; but it's weird that it's getting bigger and bigger (while the rest isn't).
mind you I have very few memory problem; most ram intensive app I use is ableton live; and I rarely see the pressure go orange, and I've seen at most 300 mb swapped. Still I'd like to understand if there's some kind of leak; or if after a few days some memory stays allocated to nothing, or if there is some kind of cache dedicated to wired memory. Maybe it's just good practice to reboot about every week; but I'd rather not. Can crashes of some application cause this? Because I've had a few.
