Wired Memory

Hey everyone,

I have a new 2011 iMac with 4gb ram. Activity monitor is telling me that over 700 mb is being used as wired memory. Is this correct? It seems a bit high. I ask this because things run kinda choppy when I'm editing with iMovie, etc.
