wireless carplay not working

Hi all 1st post here. I just switched from an Iphone 6 to an Iphone 8 plus. The problem I'm having is the Iphone 8 will not work wirelessly with carplay. Plugged in it works fine. I've tried forgetting the phone in bluetooth and wifi settings and on my Pioneer Avic 4400 and clearing bluetooth memory on the radio but nothing works. I do get the prompt about using wireless carplay during initial setup and obviously I click on it. Both wired and wireless worked fine on my Iphone 6. The only difference between them was the software version. Iphone 8 is running on latest version of IOS. The 6 is too old to get this update. any ideas?

I have iPhone 8 Plus with IOS 14 and works fine with my Play2Air wireless carplay upgrade adapter which turns my original wired carplay to a wireless one in my GLC200. Have you upgrade to IOS 14 yet? I had some problem with IOS 13.X (can't remember the version) when using wireless carplay (sometimes work sometime not)
