I live in a place where lightning strikes are frequent, so naturally I'm worried about power surges. I use wireless charging almost exclusively for my iPhone, watch, and airpods. Does anyone know if devices charging wirelessly are safe from power surges? In other words, can a power surge damage my devices while they are wirelessly charging? (I know the wireless charger itself could very well be damaged, but I don't care as those are relatively cheap and devices are expensive).

I have no hard evidence on this, but my power engineering experience suggests that, if anything, a phone charging with a wireless charger should be LESS susceptible to power surges than with a wired charger. Air is a pretty good insulator, and any short-term surge that is coupled magnetically should be damped and absorbed by the phone's battery. Don't think you need be worried about it. If you do get a lightning event, you will be replacing lots of other electronics before your phone.
