I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado and I took a road trip today with my mom.

I left the iPhone 12 Pro plugged in to the usb for apple play and put my mini on the wireless charging pad built into the truck.

I took the mini off the charging pad and it was hot!

I got this message as well.

why? Aren’t these things supposed to stop charging at 100 percent.

The temperature warning could be due to the phone being wireless charged in a hot car.

Keeping iPhone, iPad and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

Here are some of the higher ambient-temperature conditions and activities that might cause the device to change performance and behavior:
  • Leaving the device in a car on a hot day.
  • Leaving the device in direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
  • Using certain features in hot conditions or direct sunlight for an extended period of time, such as GPS tracking or navigation in a car, playing a graphics-intensive game, or using augmented-reality apps.

Probably bad alignment with the pad, resulting in an inefficient (and hot) charge.

Not all wireless charging pads are well designed.
