Has anyone noticed or seen a difference in wireless charging speeds in the new iPhones vs. previous models? I have a wireless charger in my car and its supposed to be a "fast charger" giving like 10 watts of charge. Typically on my 11 Pro Max, it would give me a pretty decent charge rate. This morning for the first time, I put my 12 Pro Max into it and wow it was super slow. When I put the phone on the charger it was at 72%. After a 1 hour drive, it hadn't moved at all. I rebooted the phone thinking maybe it was just an error, but no change. On the way back home I put it back on it and it only went up 1% in 1 hour.

What the heck is the deal here? Is this normal? My Pro Max would have gone significantly up in 2 hours on the exact same charger. Has something changed with the new iPhones?

The camera bump causes an issue with my wireless chargers. It's holding the phone farther away from the charger. It may be slowing it down, but at least it still works. The battery lasts all day anyway so I'm not too concerned.

There are some other threads about this, but the gist is that apparently the charging coil may be in a slightly different place on the iPhone 12’s as compared to the 11’s, so some Qi chargers, particularly ones that hold the phone in a vertical orientation, no longer line up well and don’t charge the iphone 12’s quickly (or even at all). There is also some speculation that the magnets around the charging coil in the iPhone 12’s may be affecting some Qi chargers as well.

Same here with my Samsung wireless charging stand. The camera bump interferes with the ability of the phone to make full contact with the wireless charger and triggers the red flashing error light. The camera is a fraction of an inch too far down with a case on. Works great if I lay the phone on it horizontally though. Don’t really understand why though, since other phones will charge fine even with a pop socket on.

Something with the magnets has to be causing this. The phone is charging for sure, but it is charging at such a slow rate that its honestly not even worth doing it. 2 hours and a 1% increase is laughably slow.

I am still having this problem. I thought the latest ios update would fix.
My 11 Pro Max would charge great on my Samsung Fast Charge Qi but my 12 Pro Max is barely 1% in an hour.
With Magsafe, the speeds are normal.
Was there ever a solution or do I have a bad iPhone.
I thought I would have heard this being a big issue but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Nah its not your phone, its just the way it works with older chargers. A new phone will charge at the same slow pace.
