I got a Tzumi wireless charger for my iPhone X for Christmas. There's been 2 times that I've noticed the phone has stopped charging while on it. Even after taking it off the charger for a while to make sure its not too hot, and placing it back on, it would not charge. I've had to restart the phone in order for the wireless charging to function again. I don't know if the phone got too hot since I'm always busy working when its on the charger. This is an issue though. Suggestions? Anyone else run into this?

Here's the charger I have: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tzumi-hypercharge-wireless-charging-pad-black/6151600.p?skuId=6151600

Yes, I have a cheap Amazon thin case and a silicone Apple case.

More than likely heat related as it’s designed to stop if heat becomes an issue

I will try without a case on it and see if that helps.

The heat issue makes sense, but if its fast charging and gets hot and stops charging every time, there's really no point in wireless charging.

If heat is building up then it sounds like your charging pad is defective (heat and not just warmth). Do you have a Digital laser inferred thermometer to check? Subjectively people often over/under estimate the actual temperature. If at an office see if anyone has a cell phone with wireless charging then you could let them try it and see if they have the same problem.

I do have a digital laser infrared temp tester so I'll try that out. Even when I use the QI charger in my truck the phone gets really warm too. 2017 Toyota Tacoma has a QI charging pad built in.

I think it is a chip technology, most of the market have overcharge, fever protection, and even use fuses.

This is the correct answer. Qi chargers are designed with circuitry that will shut them down in case of an overload.

This is why the best advice at this time is to purchase one of the two wireless chargers officially sanctioned by Apple and sold in the Apple stores. Personally I purchased the Mophie Wireless Charging Base and it is excellent.

So you think that after the phone stops charging, it will not allow wireless charging again until it’s turned off then back on? Because that’s what happened. That’s what makes me think it’s the phone instead of the charger.

Pretty tough to do when the nearest Apple store is 3 hours away.

Buy the recommended Mophie Wireless Charging Base from Apple. Have it shipped to your house. Use it for a weekend. Return it within 14 days for a no questions asked refund. This will prove/disprove what the issue is without the long drive.

You know, I really like that idea. Would never have thought of that one.

I am happy to help. You will probably also find that you like the Mophie charger, so returning it probably won’t be necessary in my opinion.
