Wireless Connection Dropping

I have a slightly flakey wireless connection at work that tends to drop several times an hour.

Simply turning the airport on my MBP off and on again always solves the problem - but is tiresome.

Is there a way to automatically check whether the connection is live, say every few minutes, and, if not, turn the airport off and on?
