wireless connection lost on MBP bootcamp 1.3 XP Pro

Does anybody get this problem: I have a Belkin N1 wireless router that works fine on my MBP santa rosa OSX . The problem is that when I boot up in XP Pro (SP2) using bootcamp 1.3 the wireless connection initially works but then soon just cuts out. after a while it might cut back in again but only intermittently. the strange thing is that when I mouse over the wireless icon in the system tray it shows that the computer is still connected even though I can't access the internet, can't access the router IP address, can't even ping a website address. Plug-in Ethernet seems to work fine, though. I've been able to connect on other wireless networks that use different routers so I'm thinking it might be something to do with this router but I have no idea what it might be. I've disabled the security settings on the router so don't believe that's the problem.
