Wireless Gaming Controller

I just recently purchased the 8bitdo bluetooth gaming controller. Is there a way to use the controller as a mouse? My computer is connected to my tv and would like to be able to control netflix and youtube from the couch. Also when streaming music i'd like to be able to skip a song and adjust the volume.

from their website, it seems they have the "xpad app"
lets you use the controller as a keyboard. so you could map keyboard shortcuts.
