Wireless Keyboard and Mouse not work with Windows?

I am picking up a wireless keyboard and mouse (the older gen keyboard), and I heard that it won't work with some of the Windows programs. Is this correct? I currently don't have any Windows apps, but might in the future.

Can anyone confirm this?
