Wireless Mighty Mouse sluggish when transferring files over LAN

I have no idea why, but when I send files to one of the HDDs hooked up to my AirPort Extreme Base Station, my mouse pointer seems like it takes 4x the movement of the mouse to go the same distance. It uses Bluetooth, so I don't see why the WiFi connection would have anything to do with it. It's been bugging me for a while and I thought maybe someone here would have an answer.
