I am in process of migration iphone 7 plus to a a iPhone 11. I use the secure encrypted backup from my PC to restore the new iPhone 11. It took a long long nearly 3 hours maybe about 2.5hrs. I heard that the new wireless migration process (putting the old iPhone 7 beside the iPhone 11) will be just under 15 mins. Is that process the same as doing the encrypted backup? Then why people do that backup process then on the PC??

I believe its the same as doing an encrypted iTunes backup / restore (in terms of passwords being saved and accounts/apps being logged into still), but its not a 15 minute process - it entirely depends on the size of the backup / data to be transferred.
When I tried it with a device using 50GB, it took about 90 minutes total.
Yes this essentially. The wireless transfer kind of keeps your essential data and then downloads apps and photos from internet directly onto the new device. So technically it’s a quicker process if you don’t have to download all your apps then and there. You can just perform the wireless transfer process and then connect your device later with WiFi and put it on charge to download all the apps and other things in general that didn’t get transferred during the wireless transfer process.
