I got a new Mac Pro. I never liked wireless bluetooth mice. They always failed after awhile. Lucky for me I still have my USB mouse from my other Mac Pro 5,1. But is there a way to maintain the bluetooth mouse? Am I doing sometihng wrong? It worked great then suddenly Saturday it basically failed: herky jerky, hardly moving. Battery is 100%. I took a little water and rubbed the bottom track. I turned the switch on and off. Out of the blue, as far as I can tell, it starts working. I need a primer on maintaining this thing.

I think there's some issues with bluetooth lag issues in general in Catalina. I've noticed similar issues with my Logitech mice over bluetooth (though not over the USB universal receiver) and bluetooth headphones (audio cuts in and out for a few moments). The fastest thing for me has been just to remove the mouse and add it back in using the keyboard. Not convenient, but hasn't happened to me too many times without going away for a while within 60s.

I would report it as well to pressure for a fix: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Sometimes a simple puff of air into the optical hole on the bottom of the mouse seems to make it work again ... must be picking up dust or cat hair off of my mouse pad.

Bluetooth mice are also highly sensitive to USB 3 radiation from attached peripherals and often replacing the cables with better shielded ones will fix the problem (or add a clip-on ferrite bead at both ends, available from Amazon and others).

It's annoying. It just happened again. I turned it off/on, blew on it. Plugged the USB mouse in and then wireless mouse started working, as if to say, "Hey you don't have to use that guy! I was just kidding. Here you go!"
