Wireless mouse weirdness

I have an M1 mini, Ventura 13.4.1, and a no name wireless 2.4ghz mouse

The mouse goes into some kind of power saving mode on idle. I also have the screen go to sleep after 3 minutes

I find that I need to wake the screen by clicking the mouse button. If I wake the screen by tapping the keyboard or moving the mouse, the mouse pointer is stuck on screen. I then have to click the mouse, which allows the mouse pointer to work but also registers a mouse click, which I don't necessarily want.

Is this your experience with other wireless mice or is my no name mouse flaky?

I do commonly ”wake up” my Magic Mouse with a couple of clicks. Moving it around will work too but it’s quicker to just click it.
