Wireless network slowing down?

I recently replaced all of my verizon wireless equipment with a Time Capsule 1st Gen and the latest Airport express. My network is set up with the Time Capsule connected to my verizon fios box, and creating a wireless network. Then I have an airport express connected to the network wirelessly and feeding my computer internet via ethernet. This originally gave me 43 Megabits per second down and now it's only giving about 18 Megabits per a second
