Wireless Network

So i have a wireless network at home using a Airport extreme a dlink router and another router but I'm a bit tired by having 3 different networks.. If i replace the 2 routers for Airport express can i use them to extend my network range??? is there a performance lost???

There's always a performance loss if you add more networking equipment.
