wireless network

is it very easy to set up a wireless network with a mac and have the pc hardwired to the connection, will it be easy to set up using my existing usb dsl modem, and i'll need some sort of router as well won't i

If you use a wireless router like the Linksys wrt54g, it is a wireless router with 4 ports for wired connections. You can hardwire your PC and the wireless connection to your apple will be seamless. Here is a link to that product:

do you think it will work with a usb modem though? there is only one input on it for a standard uk phone line connector, will i be able to plug it into the router or will i have to buy a combined router/modem

There will be an output with a ethernet connector that will go to the router and then the router will send out both a wired signal and a wireless signal.
