Hi

Another question!

I have an Epson Photo RX620 printer & was wondering how easy it is to make it wireless or if it's possible

I have wireless network in my house & my wife has PC laptop that is connected to it

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Thanks (again, 3rd question today!!)

If it is a USB printer, you should be able to plug it into an airport express to get it to print without being hooked up to a computer. You can just plug the express into an outlet and plug the printer into the express.

I am no expert on wireless networks, but I have seen this done in the past.

Yes it is a USB printer, I was looking at the airport express, but was worried that it might be on a different frequency to my wireless network & the printer from the wifes (The Soup Dragon) laptop.

It may look to the untrained observer that I know what I am talking about, but trust me I don't!!

this may or may not work
it depends on if the printer is supported
I have had one hp that was supported and a newer one that was not
also
with the use of the airport express you will most likely lose the scanning ability on the printer

your best bet is to buy a dedicated wireless print server which is expensive or buy (as I did--hp psc6180) a printer with wireless built in

I may well be able to share the printer over the WAN or LAN, the trouble is I have no idea how to do it!!

i think in windows you have to create a network on your computer, and then click printer sharing.

even if you don't use the "network" to linking the comps, you should be still able to share the printer.
that's where i would start.

i've never done this with a windows machine and a Mac so if anyone has some experience or advice???

I have an Airport Express and a Brother printer. They work together flawlessly.

Other than that, I can't help you!

1) Open Preferences -> Print and Fax
2) Hit Little + button on bottom left
3) Hit "More Printers" Button
4) First Scroll Menu at top, go to "Windows Printing"
5) Select your wife's computer from the window that pops up
6) Select the kind of printer it is from the list "Printer Model"
7) Hit ADD

8) Enjoy wireless printing from anywhere in your house! :D

I just had to recently do this as I came home from school, and my home's printer is attached to a PC! Hope this helps!

Hi

Thanks for all your comments.

I tried the last one, but it did not show my wifes computer when it searched (yes it was turned on!)

Any ideas??

turn on "shared printing" from her computer?

i dunno what else to tell you. go to printing in her control panel and see if shared printing is turned on in her printer options.

I will try the other suggestions, if it doesn't work I could have a new roundabout outside my house!!

Thanks again for all your help
