Hi all,
I am looking to bridge an internet connection wirelessly between two rooms using a Netgear WPN824v2 and an Airport Extreme 802.11n router. The Netgear router is connected to an internet modem and is set up and working fine. However, I have a few desktops in another room that I would like to connect to the main network (and thus the internet) through the Airport.
In theory, I should be able to set up the Airport in the other room, have it connect wirelessly to the Netgear, and share this connection to the desktops connected to its Ethernet ports. I've been successful in connecting the Airport to the Netgear as a client, but it seems no amount of IP tweaking can make it work as a bridge. I've also tried "extending" the network, which fails according to the Airport Utility, but somehow the LAN port on the desktop manages to obtain a proper IP address although I can't ping anything beyond the Airport.
Note that wireless connectivity to the Airport is unnecessary and I'm not looking to simply extend the wireless range of the Netgear router. Also, the Netgear router does not support WDS (though if anyone knows of a firmware for the WPN824 that does, I'm willing to try it). Both routers are up to date.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
