My wish list for the 2020 MacBook Pro 13:
  • 14 inch retina display
  • Mini LED
  • Intel “Tiger Lake” 28W
  • Thunderbolt 4 / USB4
  • 1080p webcam
  • Face ID
  • Scissors keyboard
  • 12 hours battery
  • 16GB & 512GB & 4 ports for $1799
  • Available June 2020
What would you change/add?

Probably going to keep my 32GB 2.4GHz 16" MBP, but I 'could' consider swapping, and if it had been out when I pulled the trigger on the 16" MBP, would have been looking for:
  • Scissors keyboard
  • Less stupid touch bar with dedicated ESC key
  • 32GB RAM option
  • 4 TB3 ports
  • 14" retina - don't care which, as there's always a next hopes and dreams display option 'coming'
  • 6 core would seal the deal for me with reasonable-as-can-be-expected in a laptop thermals/throttling/fan behavior
  • FaceID would be nice but not a blocker for me

  • Thunderbolt 4 as usual

  • RAM 16GB & Storage SSD 512GB for Basic version

Many of those things are possible, but not by June. You're more talking an end of the year version.

How likely do you think it is to have next month' MBP14 with face id?

A wish list would be 6-core CPU, but that's probably a couple of years off. A low power dedicated GPU would be great, not going to happen though. Intel XE Graphics and Tiger Lake sound interesting but again will probably not be ready if the laptop is going to launch in May/June. Mini LED sounds interesting, but I doubt it will be included in the May/June release - I'd like to be proven wrong though!

As for the rest, 14-inch screen is a must, 4 TB ports, scissor keyboard, 28W CPU, 32GB RAM option would be nice for those who need it, improved cooling, 11 hours battery, 16GB RAM+512 SSD for £1,799 would be great...hopefully still around 3lbs but I'd take 3.2/3.3lbs for the increased screen, cooling and battery.

Excited to see what they bring out so I can make a decision between a base 16-inch or this new 14-inch.

Very unlikely tbh as they haven't included it in the recently updated 16-inch MBP or MBA.

Don't know about that. The 10710U is a 6-core CPU with a 15W nominal TDP. If Dell can fit one in their XPS 13, why can't Apple use it in their 13" MBP?

My wish would be 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD and macOS Mojave in a 13" chassis. But I know that's not gonna happen.

Am I really the only one here who uses his MacBook Pro to consume 90% of his media?

I'll take new speakers like the 16" instead of most of the things mentioned here already.

Have you thought about an iPad or iPad Pro? Much better media consumption devices, especially if video. 120 Hz display on IPP is beautiful. I prefer it to my MBP 16's display for media.

The 6-core Comet Lake 1.1GHz chip did not perform well in the 2019 XPS 13 and Dell refreshed it recently using quad-core Ice Lake chips instead. I suspect Apple will prefer a stronger quad-core chip with better graphics over Comet Lake U.

Put better speakers in there and I'll consider it. I know, many people use headphones, but I can't use in-ear headphones, only those big over-ear ones. If I put anything in my ears, I get vertigo and headaches.

iPad Pro has brilliant speakers. Much better than my late 2013 13" MBP.

Maybe, but not compared to a 2018 13" MacBook Pro. I even had a 2019 iPad Pro for a day to compare and it had great speakers for an iPad, but it sounded very thin compared to the MacBook.

It seems like the more expensive models have upgraded speakers indeed. That's for me a reason to pick that one over the cheaper one.
