The iPhone 8 is obviously in production, but with 6 days to go, who are the persons in the industry who are likely to already be in possession of working devices?

Certainly, the entire executive team at Apple - in particular, Phil Schiller, since I remember him mentioning during the iPhone 7 launch, using the Plus model for months. Tim seems to have had access to a device back in August. I don't care what anyone says, that length makes it pretty obvious its not an iPhone 7:

There are likely persons outside of the company who have access to either the device or the technology. For instance, Apple is gonna demo camera improvements on Tuesday. They are likely to give the phone to key photo buffs to take pictures of models. That is either happening now or over the past 6 days.

You are likely to see models using the device in the slide shows too, but, its possible they are using dummy units like we have seen all over the web.

I don't expect media folks from popular sites like The Verge, Engadget, CNET, Mashable, Gruber, MBKHD to have access yet. I do expect them to leave campus next week with reviewers copy and an embargo until launch day.

Its kinda fascinating when you think about this transition period. Apple is obviously keeping a firm lip up to the very moment they announce the device on stage Tuesday. The iPhone 7 has been its flagship for the past year, yet with it stepping into the shadow, its kinda surreal that spotlight still burns bright.
