With the app store and SDK will we finally see other video then H264 on the iphone?

Now that developers will be able to write apps and sell them on the app store, will someone be writing a video player like VLC or something that will let people play non H.264 videos on their iphone? I realize the video decoding is done with hardware chips in the phone, but it seems if the phone is powerful enough to do games, it should be able to software decode other video formats like WMV, AVI, and DivX!

Any ideas on this?

Hopefully VLC will make it way to the App store - those with installer.app know it canbe done - just up to Apple I guess...
