With the launch of $99 iPhone, should AT&T offer more affordable plans?

The current least expensive plan for iPhone is $40 voice + $30 data = $70/mo

Now with $99 iPhone, shouldn't AT&T offer something like $30 voice + $20 data = $50/mo plan?

$30 for 300 min and $20 for limited data


I know AT&T may be more likely to maximize their profit just as is, but I'd like to see a $50 monthly plan. Anyone else?

I feel the EXACT same way! I was hesitating to leave my family plan because the plans were soo expensive. But thanks to Macrumors and my love for reading and researching, I found out that my school has a FAN account with AT&T!! ...So now I will be receiving 20% off of my phone bill
 
They won't, but I agree. To me, the price of the phone isn't the problem, it's the price of the service. I'm fine spending $300 on a phone, but it sucks to have to pay a minimum of $89.99 a month.

Thats what I'm saying....but I love this phone too much; so I'm going to have to deal with it:rolleyes:

But they MIGHT* just surprise us one of these days....
 
they should make it $20, $30 for data and I barley used 1 gig a month on a phone where the battery sucks

I think they would get a lot more customers with it at $20

or at least give us unlimited txting or some kind of txting with the $30
 
When I purchased my first cell phone back in '98, the cheapest plan AT&T had was $99+tax for 500 mins a month. Prices have come down somewhat but I also believe that the data plan should go back to $20/mnth.
