With the right case, I am now completely smitten with the Midnight Green 11 Pro Max.
2 factors made the 11 pro, for me, an absolute upgrade:
1) Better low light camera
Lots of family and vacation picture taking opportunities happens near sunset or in low light
2) Battery battery battery
Love not needing to think about battery life as much. This will be especially great when traveling for work or play.
However, case decision became more important usage considerations than ever given the extra weight and thickness of the Max Pro.
Typically it's an easy decision. I love how grippy Apple silicone cases are vs all other cases, both in hand, and on glass tables or airline tray tables.
=== Plan A: Apple blue silicone case
For first time ever, I do not like any of the Apple cases in blue silicone.
The Alaskan blue...too washed out; too blah. Darker blue...too dark. Want more contrast in my purse and gym bag.
Tried the Apple clear case. Wayyyyyy too slippery. I don't want a case that makes the iPhone even MORE like a piece of soap than it is without a case.
Why didn't Apple make a green silicone case that blends well with the midnight green? Odd..
The Apple leather cases feel too slick to me, though I've read here that goes away after usage.
=== Plan B: This Casemate.
It lets a little of the green shine through then makes it iridescent. The iridescence blends with the shiny glass on the Pro's camera square. Love how it looked.
2 problems:
1) Seemed grippy enough at first. However, after a couple days I realized it's only grippy if hands are well-moisturized. If my hands are dry, the case is very slippery. Worse, the case is always VERY slippery on surfaces. I definitely could see it taking a leap off an airline tray table at the worst possible moment.
2) Weight. It adds a noticeable amount of weight.
3) Thickness. It feels like it adds more thickness than any case I've had before, though I'm sure other brands add more.
Plus it was challenging to remove once on.
=== Plan C: A $13 leather and microfiber-lined case from Amazon
I scrutinized a bunch of Amazon cases. Hard to tell from the descriptions which would be more grippy or overall better.
I decided on this one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X7QKVSF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Because:
- It looked like it would add minimal width
- It looked like it probably wouldn't be slick
- The bottom part does not cover all the ports on the bottom - just the side corners and a little more. This makes it a lot easier to remove, and guarantees no speaker interference.
- Tan and green look great to my eye
- I liked the uneven leather look of the case.
After using it for a couple days:
- The material has the perfect amount of grip to it.
- It looked thin / minimal and it IS thin. That small difference makes the Pro Max handle so much better. I can pick it up out of an Anker wireless charger stand so much easier than before.

Thank you
for making such an awesome phone and ecosystem!
