It's been over a year since Apple debuted - with much hype - it's protocol for detecting and communicating with networked devices. At the debut, there was talk about an A/V device perhaps to be manufactured by Phillips that would use Rendezvous technology to facilitate streaming music from Mac hard drives.

It doesn't look to me that anything has become of this device or Rendezvous for that matter.

Anybody have any information to the contrary, or is was Rendezvous a trial baloon that Apple has given up on?

Re: Wither Rendezvous?

Rendezvous is definitely still around, you can chat to people on your local network on ichat with zero-configuration as well listen to anybody on your network's music in iTunes.

O its just getting started

HP added it to all their new printers
I have zero config on 3 HPs in my office
IT boys dont know it but i can print to it a few different ways
lol

There are a bunch of shareware programs that use Rendezvous. One that allows you to share book marks in safari
safari menu i believe its called

Search Rendezvous @ version tracker!

Anyone have any idea how you can use Rendezvous with a USB scanner/printer hooked up to an Airport to be able to use the scanner? Is Rendezvous printer-only?

Rendezvous is great tech!

I'm using it for iTunes PC

It's in Transmits Panic

E-On Softwares Vue Pro

Shake 3

Phillips will be debuting some Network Audio systems at CES next month. Look for them.

As the poster above said. "Rendezvous is just getting started"
