WMP converstion to iTunes

hey all. I'm trying to figure out how to convert some WMP files from a class that i would like to listen to on my iPod (or at least to burn to a CD and be able to listen to it in the car). I'm on a Mac running OS 10.4.11 with iTunes 8.2.1. I've done the File>Add To Library thing in iTunes but it's doing absolutely nothing with these WMP files. any help or tips or anything would be greatly appreciated :)
 
i tried the link and downloaded the Switch program but it's telling me that it is not supported on my system. im probably doing something ridiculously stupid wrong...
