how do i get wmv file to work on my macbook. i tried downloading flip4mac and vlc player but the files still do not work properly.

Flip4Mac and VLC will only play up Windows Media 9 files. If it's 10 and/or has some sort of DRM you're out of luck.

No need for correction, you're right. Microsoft are very hesitant about letting third party apps play their latest formats. This is understandable for the DRM stuff though.
