Hi all,

Well, I am trying to figure a way to be able to watch WMV files on my Macbook but all my tries were failed !!

I want to know.. is there any way to read these files and Please make it easy for me to understand...Cuz I am not much of a MAC or IT wiz :D

I know that this is the best site to help people... so I didnt even bother to search anyhwere else .. I know that I will find the right answers here :)

Thanks

Well, I was told that the Flip 4MAC only works for the PowerPC Mac..?!!!

Ok.. so I downloaded this thing, how can I use it?

Windows Media® Components for QuickTime

Just install it, and it'll allow QuickTime to play most Windows Media files. It will add a preference pane to System Preferences where you can configure other things like browser plug-ins, etc.

Ok..

Hi all..

Thanks all for your valuable replies.. Now regarding the system preferences.. what should I tick so that all the WMV will play automatically in Quicktime?
Sorry if this sounds stupid...but I am really amateur in this stuff ..!!

Also, now to open a WMV file... do I just right click and choose Quicktime to open it? Cuz I tried it and it still doesnt work?

Please Help!!

Yes, choose it to play automatically...maybe choose WMV player as the app to open it...

allisonv7 VLCplayer is another option too.

Thanks Pyschofreak for your reply.. I did choose the automatic... :) So, now i got 2 apps to play WMV files..

ThanksSsSsSS.. all for all your help and comments.. :D

there are three apps u can use for WMVs
VLC/MPlayer OSX, play most WMVs, quick response, VLC has some masks when seeking
QT+flip4mac, play most WMVs, slow response
Windows media player for Mac (ppc, old), play all, slow, not UB

notice, there are some WMVs (Not DRM protected) can't be played properly in VLC/Mplayer/QT+flip4mac

What mentioned here is pretty comprehensive but I wanna make a complement which doesn't appear here - Macgo Free Mac Media Player. Play WMVs, as well as other formats, quick reponse.

Welcome to almost EIGHT YEARS AGO.

I know you're new here, but digging up a topic THAT old is beyond words. How do you even FIND one that old? I guess the search function or web crawlers work well...

BTW, I use VLC and I'm SURE it's improved significantly in the almost 8 years since it was discussed here.
