Im sure this has been asked a 1000 times, however the search facility on here hasn't thrown me any subjects up.

Im looking to convert a set of WMV video files to MP4 and looking for a decent converter to do this. I have tried VLC but the sound is not in sync with the video. I have just dowloaded a trial of Aimersoft Video Converter which has worked well and is around the £18 mark.

I am hoping I can rely on your suggestions as to what is a good one. I have no issue in paying for the right app.

Help appreciated.

I'd suggest a small free app named QTAmateur:
https://www.mikeash.com/software/qtamateur/

You'll note that it hasn't been updated in a long time, BUT -- still works fine on El Capitan (and previous versions of the Mac OS before that).

It even has a "batch export" command, but I've never used it.
I'll -guess- that you can select more than one file, open them, and then choose the "batch export" command and process them all at once.

Thanks for the reply, that is an old app ;) Ill give it a go. Theres been very little reply to this so I am wondering if I am trying to do something here I perhaps shouldn't be.

My mistake regarding conversion to mp4 (as distinguished from mp3).

I was able to scrounge up a sample WMV file, and found QTAmateur does fine with the sound but -- skips the video! (sigh)

Dave, I downloaded Handbrake which seems to be the most popular of choices, and so far I have converted over 100 of my videos with no issues at all. Thanks for your help ;)

Indeed, Handbrake works fine with most of the formats, and it's also popular for its open source. But the output is limited, thus I'd like to turn to some Handbrake alternatives. But if you only need MP4 files, Handbrake's enough.
