So what I would *like* to do is forward both of my normal pop email accounts to Mobile Me and be able to discern on my iphone which account the mail was sent to... and be able to send FROM that account... not the @me.com one!

Before anyone asks why I am using Mobile Me instead of some other way: I am in the military (Navy) and when at sea we do have access to the net, but a lot of sites are blocked from access including all the webmail ones like Mail2Go etc. You are also not able to set up your POP accounts directly to Outlook because the mail account we have on there is in a locked down network. Mobile Me is one of the FEW ways I have been able to access my home POP email accounts at sea without any issues since it's not blocked. And no my iphone wont work at sea but I dont want to have to change the settings all around every time I go to sea. I just want to get it set up and keep it that way. Plus I would rather have mail PUSHED to my iphone instead of fetching - not to mention have it synced so if I delete or move to a folder on one device, it will also show the same on my macbook pro or on the actual mobile me web mail.

So first I tried enabling the Mobile Me account on my iphone and turning the mail option on. That gave me one integrated inbox for both of my now forwarded email addresses. I would receive incoming mail from both addresses no problem, however when I try to reply I have no option to change the from address (on my iphone anyway. I think I can in Mail on my macbook pro).... On the iphone it always uses the @me.com one. Is there no way to change the default from address - or even better have it use the same address that the email was addressed to? So if I reply to a mail sent to mail1 it would show it was from mail1, and if it was mail2 and I reply it would show it was from mail2? I looked all over the place but cant find any way to do this!!

Then I Googled and found you can have your POP email pushed to your iphone through Mobile Me if you create a new 'Other' address. Then select IMAP as the type of account. Enter the name and auto-forwarded email address. (This is the email address that will show as the "From" email, even though you're using your MobileMe account.)

For your mail server settings, use your MobileMe settings:

* Incoming settings:
o Host Name: mail.mac.com
o User Name: MobileMe user name
o Password: MobileMe password
* Outgoing Settings:
o Host Name: smtp.mac.com
o User Name: MobileMe user name
o Password: MobileMe password
* Advanced:
o Use SSL - On
o Authentication - Password
o Server Port - 587

So that works wonderfully..... FOR ONLY ONE ADDRESS!!! My Mail1 account is now being PUSHED to my iphone and I can reply with THAT address showing in the from field! :( BUT It won't let me add the second POP address in this manner even though it's also forwarded to my Mobile Me account! I get an error (in both my iphone AND the Mail app on my MacBook Pro actually) saying that I can't add a second account with the same hostname and server settings!!

Is there a way around this or do I just need to leave that second account as POP and have it Fetch periodically??

What would happen if I forwarded Mail2 to Mail1 and then forwarded Mail1 to Mobile Me? Using the above settings, at least it would show it was from my Mail1 account and not the me.com one.... or would it?? I just don't wish to use the @me.com one!! :( I already have 2 email addresses, I don't need a 3rd one to confuse people!

When I tried to do this through GMail before... it would recognize BOTH accounts that were forwarded to it, and there was a setting to allow me to send from the account that received the email. This setting worked even on the iphone!! I can't find how to do this with Mobile Me at all! Too bad GMail is also blocked on the network on board!! :( (as is hotmail etc)
