As normal the phone charges overnight. This morning I pick it up to be greeted with a very sluggish animation as I swipe up. Strange I thought, but as I used the phone the sluggish screen response remained.

I wouldn’t say the phone felt slow, just that the touch input wasn’t registering. Trying to enter my passcode took about 5 to 8 presses of each number. Strangely I’d press the number and it looked like it registered as I saw the dot that represents that digit of my pin code on the passcode screen fill in but then it would delete. Going through the settings menu took lots of presses on each item to get into the software update. But once there the update downloaded fine.

This is why I don’t think the phone was slow, it wasn’t hot, just a very unresponsive touchscreen.

iPhone 11
It was not hot at any point
Fully charged
iOS 16
Battery capacity 85%
Tired a restart
And a hard restart
remembered I had a pending update
Tried updating to 16.2
Had about 10gb free space
Cleared some space too

Even after all that, nothing fixed it. However after leaving it a while after the update it’s been fine since.

Any ideas what it could be and if there is anything I should try to stop it happening again?

I did think maybe my storage was corrupted and/or bad memory causing issues with the os, but not sure how test for this.

Thanks

Maybe a combination of things.............
Update pending
Low battery capacity @ 85%
Limited free space
How long is "a while".
Maybe the phone needed a period of time for the changes to "settle in"
