Hi,

I got the 2012 AE which is fine, but i'm having a hard time waking up my PC behind the router over the internet (iPhone on 3G). I have forwarded port 9 UDP to the local machine. I'm using the iWOL application from the iPhone App store, and adding the machines MAC address and my connections public IP + specifying that it's port 9.

The App responds with a "Packet sent! but nothing happens.
(it works fine via WIFI internally)

Maybe the AE doesn't allow this?

Help would be greatly appreciated :)

I have had this same problem in Lion and Mountain Lion. It worked fine in Snow Leopard. I still haven't found a way to reliably wake my iMac over the Internet. But, if I do, I will try to remember to post here. :)

Maybe there is a difference between different levels of sleep state on a Mac and a PC. But a machine that is turned off completely should receive a magic packet sent by a WOL program the same regardless of OS. It won't communicate with the OS on the machine since the power is off, only the NIC. This worked with my old linksys router, so i'm speculating that maybe Apple's AE doesn't support the feature.
