law requiring a two year warranty on electronic products. An Italy regulator, the story here, is fining Apple for not offering a two year warranty on its products. On the one hand, as a consumer, I would love a two year warranty. But, as an American who believes in the free enterprise system, I think there should be a limit on what a company is required to do. I have mixed feelings on this topic. I suppose a product such as an IMAC that costs $1200 US, minimum, should last two years without problems. But, I can't help but wonder how much cost this would add to the overall cost of the product if two years became the warranty requirement in the United States.
What happens if Apple changes its mind and does offer a two year warranty in Italy [will it treat all customers the same no matter where they live]?
