By mistake I copied a whole load of photos to my desk top from iphoto, but I cancelled the copying half way through. This has now left me with a whole load of blank icons on the desk top which I cant trash, when I try it comes up with a window saying preparing to move to trash, but they never do. How can I trash these as it affecting me posting photos on web etc.

wont allow me to trash photos

tried restart, tried opening anew folder and dropping them in there then deleting. But just comes up with transferring to folder but keeps saying it and never does it.
