Wont detect USB

Im having a strange problem with my computer none of the USB ports detect anything when i plug something in when its turned on but if it was plugged in before the computer was turned on it detects them fine.

Ive no idea why that is happening and its really frustrating, anyone have any ideas?

and if this helps i get the following message displayed in the console as soon as i plug something in.
