I recently bought a used Powerbook 1400 with os 8.6 off Ebay. It has a minor problem, it doesn't shut down properly. Selecting shut down from any of the menus makes the computer restart instead. The only way to get it to actually turn off is to unplug it, which probably isn't the best way and isn't very good for the computer.

Yesterday, when it first arrived, it wouldn't turn on. I emailed the seller and they suggested holding down the PMU reset button. Surprisingly, it worked, and now there aren't any probems booting up... but now it won't shut down.

It also won't turn on from the on/off button, I have to press the PMU reset button on the back of the computer instead.

So, maybe someone knows how to fix this and can help.
