Word 08' question

Okay i know this is going to sound silly but here goes..

I am attempting to make a header with my last name and then insert page numbers to the right of that. It just wont do it without overlapping the page # into the last letter of my last name.. I am embarrassed at the time I have spent trying to make it work! UGHHH:mad:

I never had this issue with 04'.. any ideas?? I am a full time student and my teacher requires this all every paper.
