Word 2004 line spacing

Anyone have problems with line spacing in Word 2004? At the beginning of my letters I get double spacing. Also in my return address on envelope (and therefore sending address). Know how to cure?

You need to change the default template.

Default template? Isn't this a "format" issue? There must be something "switched" for this "area" that I am missing. I have tried looking thru Format and Style after highlighting but nothing appears to do it. I mean, I can "correct the problem" by creating a new custom template but why this one is not convertible escapes me! Good old Microsoft!
