I receive a lot of Word files from numerous individuals for my work. Sometimes I get the odd one that makes Word 2004 behave strangely, e.g. it keeps crashing after opening the file. Today I had a file that after a couple of saves kept telling me my HDD was full and to use a different drive when the HDD had almost 350GB to spare (trying my external drive gave the same message as well). This is not a virus (or at least not one recognized by my uptodate Intego software).
What seems to do the trick in these situations is to open the file in NeoOffice and then save it again as a .doc before opening it again in Word and hey presto this has worked every time so far - the crashing and weird behaviour stops.
The tip I would like to know is why the highlight tool only applies yellow even when another colour is displayed on the toolbar and you have to open the menu to get the colour you want.
