I have a Mac Pro Quad Core, 2.66 ghz with 5 gigs of ram and a raptor system/application drive.
I finally broke down and installed Word 2008. Come to find out, it's very unresponsive and sluggish when typing. I type out a fast sentence, and the cursor and letters are visibly behind, by maybe a quarter-second or so. If I hit enter a few times, that also lags. I can also visibly see the spellchecker "red dotted underline" lag.
I am fairly certain it's not my computer's hardware, since every other program performs great, including Pages 09. Is this just what to expect from Office for the mac? Word 2003 in an XP virtual machine runs perfectly flawless.
Also, I know I can used pages, but I am a writer who is used to using Word, and I wanted to use words outlining system to outline a new story. Pages just doesn't have the same feel as Word 2003 did for outlining.
